After spending over 24 hours in custody of the Entebbe aviation police, renowned NUP vlogger and political activist Fazir Mayanja was Sunday afternoon released on police bond.
His release follows piling pressure from the Irish embassy and voices from the NUP party president Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert and the diaspora community who in joint statements condemned the abduction of Mr. Mayanja who had just jetted into the country.
The blogger was charged with Computer Misuse and later freed on police bond. The charges are affiliated to a series of documentaries and commentaries the vlogger has been making on his social media platforms.
In one of his most streamed YouTube documentaries which has over 1 million views entitled “The African leader who Betrayed Gaddafi” the vlogger faulted Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for inspiring the downfall of former Libyan dictator Col. Muammar Al Gaddafi.
The YouTube documentary was an eye opener that depicted Museveni to be a sworn hypocrite and a key ally of the West who would even mortgage off his fellow African leader just to be in good terms with the donors.
Fazir voiced and analyzed Museveni’s own speeches and opinions on the slain Libyan leader whom he perceived to have been too ambitious to have African states united under one umbrella.
