The Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga has asked non-performing opposition legislatures to either resign or step-up their activenessMpuuga who sounded bitter at the ongoing opposition retreat at Speke Resort Munyonyo said that it’s disappointing in this era of competitive politics to see opposition MPs either arriving late for plenary sittings or do not attend plenary without any substantive reasons.
Mpuuga says if one feels uncomfortable under the current political sphere, it would be prudent for one to resign and give space for those willing to serve to the expectations of Ugandans.
Speaking at the same retreat, former FDC Party President Dr. Kizza Besigye has asked opposition political party leaders to stop competing amongst themselves and rather focus on their goal of removing President Museveni from power.
Besigye says the more they continue competing amongst themselves, the more they stay divided and confuse the public thus giving the NRM regime more opportunity to stay in power.
Meanwhile, Counsel Peter Walubiri has challenged the Electoral Commission to set non-partisan leveled principals that are free and fair to all political parties and individuals.
He says it’s embarrassing for the Commission to allow a certain category of individuals to freely move and campaign around the country without being either stopped or tortured like those in the opposition.
