Jailed National Unity Platform party lawmakers Ssegiirnya and Allan Ssewanyana are set to be granted bail after the state prosecutors did not object to the bail application.
In the ongoing court proceedings at Masaka High Court, the state confirmed withdrawal of bail rejection.
The Leader of Opposition Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba who joined the legal panel defending the MPs tweeted,
“We are making headway, the State has withdrawn its objection to the bail application. We keep our fingers crossed to secure our comrades’ freedom.”
Court has gone to recess and on return the High Court judge Lawrence Tweyanze will pronounce himself on the bail.
